These recordings showed people being beaten and raped with the authorities' knowledge. Not only did Saveliev manage to bring copies of the archive to freedom and publish them under the pseudonym "Trojan," escaping the wrath of several Russian government agencies, but he also remained himself - a person unable to look at cruelty indifferently.
